Types of Pumps (Horizontal Pumps)
In the manufacturing industry, the selection of the right pump is crucial for efficient and effective operations. Pumps play a vital role in moving fluids through various stages of production, ensuring smooth and consistent processes. In this blog post, we will explore some of the most commonly used horizontal pumps, their unique features, and their specific applications.
- Single Suction Single Stage Pump
This pump is the most commonly used and is capable of the widest application with a wide variety of impellers and shaft seals. - Double suction Pump
With a bore of 125 mm or more to feed high flow rates, this pump provides excellent suction performance and easy maintenance with a horizontally split casing. The pump is mainly used as a water pump. - Multi-stage Pump
The multi-stage pump is designed to obtain a high head by arranging multiple impellers in series. The head increases as many times as the number of impellers, just as serially connected batteries increase voltage. The pump provides a total head around 500 m. - Magnet Pump
With power transmitted by a permanent magnet, the magnet pump has no shaft seal and thus no leakage along the shaft outside of the sealing. The pump is commonly used for highly corrosive liquid and is mainly made of plastic. - Canned Motor Pump
The canned motor pump has an impeller connected directly to one shaft end of the motor with the coil isolated by a thin plate. The pump is compact and has no coupling for the shaft seal and thus no leakage. - Self-priming Pump
Once started, the self-priming pump removes air in the suction. piping with the liquid within the pump and requires no priming prior to operation. The pump is used for discharge.
Choosing the right horizontal pump for your manufacturing needs can significantly impact efficiency, maintenance, and overall performance. By understanding the specific features and applications of each type of pump, you can make informed decisions that will enhance your operations.
Whether you require the versatility of a single suction single stage pump, the high flow rates of a double suction pump, the high head capabilities of a multi-stage pump, the leak-free design of a canned motor pump, or the self-priming features of a self-priming pump, there is a horizontal pump to meet every need in the manufacturing industry.
