Suction lift varies according to pump characteristic, type and temperature of the liquid handled and piping conditions, when preparing a plan for instalation, the following should be taken into consideration
Normal temperature, fresh water: Height from suction-water surface to pump center-within 6m
High water temperature: Suction lift decreases when temperature increases
Long suction pipe: A long suction pipe reduces suction lift due to the increase in pipeline resistance.
Handing of vapor liquids Certain chemical and coal oils are highly volatile and, when handled, the pump may require a flooded suction system. It is recommended selectio of a pump and the equipment plan be based on characteristics of the liquid as obtained from its manufacturer
